It Turns Out That Rainbows are Everywhere!

We explored color mixing and rainbows this week, and found out, with the help of Leianna the science teacher, that RAINBOWS ARE EVERYWHERE!

We gave the children primary watercolors, a tray, and eye droppers for them to explore color mixing with. They are very confident about the colors that they are making, and now know for certain that red and blue make purple and yellow and blue make green. The book Little Blue and Little Yellow by Leo Lionni helped to remind us of the blue and green rule! We know that red, blue, and yellow are primary colors, but we sometimes say "I made blue! when we are mixing the colors.

We also mixed colors on leaves to print onto wax paper.   We discovered that red and blue and yellow mixed at once makes brown!

Our visit to Leianna's classroom was very successful. She had planned activities for us that allowed us to look for rainbows, talk about rainbows, and learn that where ever there is light there is a rainbow.

We continue to explore the ipad camera, and have been filming outside in this beautiful fall weather. The children each choose what they would like to record, and we help to hold the ipad while they press "record" and then press "stop".  The process has been engaging and we have learned that the 3's have focus, and interest and are very capable film makers!

AND we love to have our picture taken.

CHEEEEEEEEEEZE!

Here's some scenes from our classroom- we have noticed some more "coming together" these past few days, with structures being built together, ideas being shared....

Until Next Time,
Michele
