More Pumpkins and Photographers......

Our days continued apace with our interests, as we explored making pumpkin pie with a grandpa and grandma, and had a visit in a "camera obscura" to see what it is like inside a camera!

but the SNOW was the big story! We did get outside, although our photos won't reflect it, as it was cold and we were bundled!

We have noticed some experimenting with materials such as tape and markers and scissors, and we will begin to designate a table as a "maker table" where the children may gather their own materials and create independently.

Pumpkin pie making happened here too. We talked about all the ingredients, the process of mixing and reading a recipe, and smelled spices. The stirring of the mixture was the best part!

Our study of cameras and photography continued on Friday with a visit from a camera expert, our art teacher Claire. She showed us what the inside of her camera looked like, talked about using a camera, and showed us what happened inside her camera when she pressed the shutter release.
We had fun posing for pictures with Claire!

When we visited Leeanna's room, the children were surprised to see an upside down image produced by the camera obscura.  We even used a lens to focus the image, and saw Leeanna walking (upside down) outside.

The small room with one window was turned into a camera. We walked in, and saw the lens where the light could come in.

The image on the screen was upside down! It was sooo interesting to be inside a camera!

Within the classroom, the sunlight and colors continue to be a source of exploration, with rainbows being noticed and created throughout the room.
There are maps in the dramatic play area that have been unfolded and referred to a few times....we'll keep you posted!

Until Next Time,
Michele
