We had a visitor on Monday, and we learned about the first steps to constructing a building. First, there's an idea. THEN there's a drawing, completed by an architect. The architect then makes a MODEL of the home so that there's an idea where everything will fit. The model even has stairs!

The house model, drawings, and pictures are part of our exploration in the classroom now. We are building with blocks on top of the drawings, and the house model and drawings are part of our "building" display. Already children have asked to put drawings up of "maps" or "plans".
We constructed sandwiches using tools and materials!
Boxes have been used for construction, decoration, and storage on the rug.
We painted with blocks, pressing them into paint and then onto a previously painted paper. The colors and shapes were interesting to the children, as they planned each placement of the block. There was also a chance to fingerpaint!
We also got outside for climbing and walking. We get to look for animal homes too!
