Virtual PreK

Our new reality, or virtual prek, is a vibrant and exciting space for the children and teachers and families to negotiate within. I thought I would add to our virtual reality prek pictures, as our in the moment times are fleeting, it's nice to see the children through pictures that families are sharing....We have spent time together counting our doors, windows, and rooms, talking about why our homes are special, and creating many room structures from recyclables and furniture!

A big thank you to all of you for participating in whatever way that you're able to. Seeing the children's faces really is a boost of sunshine every day.

Here is our new reality!

Here are some thoughts from the children about what makes their home special:
we all live here!
everything! and Anna and Elsa
my squishy and it smells good too!
T.T.!
mom, Julian, me, Rudy, dada, grandma, grandpa

I like to play with trucks and helicopters

As PHSDR (Parker at Home School Diamino Recess)  is our new "reality", let's share pictures of what PreK3 looks like now. The children are engaged, we are meeting up a few times a day, and work is being shared via email.

We have continued our "building" unit, and it works very well as a home to school unit, as we've identified our favorite spaces in our homes, shared pictures of structures that we've built, and continued to read stories that were introduced at school.

This is my "classroom" set up! I'm sitting at the kitchen table of my house with a laptop and colored lights to keep things cheery. I brought home a painting that our group had made during the winter, of our "tracks, " so that the children might see something familiar.

This is what a virtual classroom looks like at my end!
and Sara's!

We started our week building forts! Families are sharing pictures via email, which we appreciate.  Please don't worry if you are not doing so. We see you and your child onscreen! Also, there's no pressure to participate. Every family is doing what they need to do during this time, and we are here for you if you need us.

We have continued our building unit in flexible ways, including talking about what we can build with if we don't have blocks! We spent time together online building with our various materials.

a child's favorite space at home!

Going forward, we hope that this virtual PreK keeps your child engaged with us and their friends!

Until Next Time,
Michele
